Embedded Firmware Engineer Intern — ESP32, Edge AI & WiFi Sensing

  • C / C++
  • ESP32
  • RTOS
  • WiFi & BLE

Zoe Care is building a Physical AI platform that interprets human activity from variations in ambient Wi-Fi signals.

Our technology combines WiFi Sensing, signal processing and Edge AI to understand what is happening in a real environment, without cameras or wearables, with a privacy-respecting approach.

Our first application, ZoeFall, detects falls of older adults using a discreet device installed in their living space.

After several real-world pilots, we are entering a new phase: making our embedded system ever more robust, reliable, manufacturable and easy to deploy at scale.

The technical challenge

Our technology must:

  • continuously acquire and analyze Wi-Fi signals;
  • run detection algorithms locally;
  • integrate signal processing and embedded AI building blocks;
  • communicate reliably with our software infrastructure;
  • operate durably in real, constrained environments.

The work sits at the intersection of low-level firmware development, microcontrollers and real-time systems, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Low Energy communications, signal processing, Edge AI, testing, reliability and the industrialization of connected systems.

Your missions

  • Developing and evolving C/C++ firmware on ESP32
  • Integrating signal processing and embedded AI building blocks
  • Acquisition, synchronization and preprocessing of Wi-Fi data
  • Developing drivers and services in an RTOS environment
  • Managing Wi-Fi and BLE communications
  • Configuration, diagnostics, logging and OTA updates
  • Optimizing performance, memory usage and stability
  • Designing and automating functional, robustness and endurance tests
  • Analyzing incidents observed during field deployments
  • Following industrialization with prototyping and manufacturing partners

You may also take part in pilot installations in nursing homes (EHPADs).
