From Digital AI to Physical AI

Most of the AI we interact with today lives entirely in digital space — it reads text, generates images, answers questions. Physical AI is different. It is AI that perceives and reasons about the physical world: presence, posture, movement, routines, and events that happen in a room.

Physical AI does not need cameras to do this. By combining ambient sensing (such as Wi-Fi Sensing), Edge AI, and Human Activity Recognition, it can interpret what is happening in a space without ever recording an image or a voice.

Three building blocks

  • Sensing. Discreet devices perceive the environment through radio signals, motion, or other ambient cues.
  • Edge AI. Models run locally, on the device, so raw data never leaves the room.
  • Activity recognition. The system turns raw signals into structured events that care teams can actually use.

Why it matters for care

Eldercare environments need technology that respects dignity. Physical AI fits because it does its job without watching people. It understands the world by sensing it, not by filming it.
